Katy, 24, was preparing to play at her own Katy Perry Pool Party, an exclusive event just for winners of a competition on US radio.
The competition offered photographer listeners from across America the chance of an all-expenses-paid trip to Florida for the concert followed by access to the after-party.
The star spent the hours ahead of the performance basking in some rays by the pool in the fashionable Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. She arrived in the city on Friday night following a nightmare flight from New York, which was delayed by two hours.
Her latest single women fashion, Waking Up In Vegas, topped the US pop charts last week. It was her third number one hit in the country.
Her breakthrough single, I Kissed A Girl, went triple platinum in the United States when it was released in May 2008, selling more than three and a half million copies. It topped the charts in more than 30 countries, including the UK.
