Susan Sarandon as the grandmother in 'The Lovely Bones'

The official poster for Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones surfaced today, and it is ... quite lovely indeed!

The film, which stars Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and newcomer Saoirse Ronan centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is hotly tipped to receive her second Oscar nomination for her starring role in the The Lovely Bones. The young Irish thespian, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her star turn in Atonement alongside Keira Knightley, plays the lead role in the movie based on the bestselling novel by Alice Sebold. Ronan plays Susie Salmon, a young girl who is raped and murdered, and watches over her family from heaven.



The moving tale co-stars Irish-American actor Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz as Susie’s parents, and Susan Sarandon as the grandmother. Stanley Tucci plays the disturbed man who kills Susie.

Susan Abigail Tomalin was born on October 4, 1946, in Jackson Heights, New York City, and is the oldest of nine children. Following her graduation from Edison High in New Jersey in 1964, she enrolled at the Catholic University of America's drama school in Washington, D.C., where she studied until 1968. While there, she met Chris Sarandon, another aspiring young actor. The pair got married in September 1967, and eventually divorced 12 years later. Sarandon's first big break came when she was cast as the defiant daughter in 1970's Joe. Feature parts in the TV drama A World Apart, Lady Liberty (a.k.a.
