If the public can relate to you, you might be perfect for Shine Models.

The local modeling agency is in search of men, women and children of all ages to join its roster.

“We’re looking for all ages, all sizes, both genders – regular people,” says Shine Models proprietor Sylvia Martens. “That’s what our community wants to see.”

Angel Jensen has modeled for runway models and has been involved in Vancouver’s film industry. What she saw there was often more work for character actors, those with some personality.These are the type of people who would be perfect for runway models, says Jensen.

“(Martens) wants real beauties who feel beautiful inside and want to express it on the outside,” explains Jensen. “It’s nice to see someone promoting the real.”Jensen who is a self-employed business consultant wanted to try something new when she decided to try modeling.

“There’s a point in your life where you feel you want to branch out and try different things,” she explains. “I just think that once in your life you have to break out of your normal routine and do different things.” Sylvia Martens is the proprietor of runway models.

Martens says no experience is necessary for her models, who will be featured in print advertising, fashion shows, TV and film. There are so many galleries free of models in modeling sites.

“We’re looking for any beauties who’s got the attitude and the it factor,” she says, adding she’d like to have a large pool of models in her agency. “We are looking for real people who are keeners.”

She already has some jobs lined up for models including 30 spots for a children’s choir on a local TV program and several fashion shows. And you can find some galleries free of models.

Martens owned a modeling agency eight years ago, but took a hiatus. There are so many modeling agencies available. It wasn’t until she taught a self-development and modeling course in January that her passion returned and she decided to start Shine Models.

Now a days many modeling agencies are available who help new models. “I’m all about building confidence, character and community,” she says, adding she finds it fulfilling to see a student discover their strengths and discover confidence through her classes.

A FORMER glamour model who was jailed in Suffolk for bigamy has escaped a prison sentence after admitting the offence for a fourth time.

Emily Horne, 40, walked free after being given a 10-month suspended jail sentence at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester this afternoon.

Judge Mushtaq Khokhar said he had decided not to jail her because she had made progress in the last six months since being prescribed with medication for a personality disorder.

Horne only told her “husband” Ashley Baker she was already married as they set off on their honeymoon.

It comes five years after she was jailed for six months at Ipswich Crown Court - under the name of Amileaynna Carmichael of hollywood- after she admitted three counts of bigamy following four marriages.

At the time Horne, who lived in Hervey Street in Ipswich and used to be a model and actress in adult movies, was described by the judge as a “very predatory female.”

The London party girls are no longer being represented by the high-profile agency Select. Sources claim the decision was prompted by the girls' hard partying.

PIXIE GELDOF and Daisy Lowe have reportedly been dropped by the Select model agency.

The high-profile company is axing its talent section, which included Bob Geldof's daughter Pixie, 19, and singer Pearl Lowe’s offspring Daisy.

The decision by the London-based modeling agency was allegedly prompted by the socialites’ hard partying.

It will also no longer represent Brazilian heiress Alice Dellal.

A source told the Daily Mail: "All the girls were being pictured partying hard.

“They were becoming over-exposed in the papers, which is probably why Select thought the agency was moving in the wrong direction."

A spokesperson for Select said: "It's correct we no longer have a talent section in our agency.

“This included girls such as Lowe and Geldof, but we cannot comment on individuals because of legal issues."

Both girls are regularly snapped hitting London's nightclubs.

Daisy's modelling career began aged 15 when she was spotted in Camden. She has modelled for lingerie company Agent Provocateur as the face of the brand. She has also appeared in Italian and British Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and became the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs this year.

Geldof joined Select at 16 and was on the cover of Italian Vogue this year.

Danielle Lloyd (born 16 December 1983, Liverpool) is an English lingerie and glamour model, and former Miss England (2004).

She was stripped of her title of Miss Great Britain 2006 after posing for nude pictures featured in the December 2006 of Playboy magazine, and her tabloid-alleged affair with one of the judges, her footballer boyfriend at that time Teddy Sheringham. As a participant in the 2007 series of Celebrity Big Brother, Lloyd, along with others, was accused of using bullying tactics and making racist comments directed against the Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. According to reports from the tabloid News of the World, Sheringham has decided to end his relationship with Lloyd as a result of her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

Lloyd was born in Penny Lane, Liverpool in 1983. Her parents, Jackie and Arthur Lloyd, are a bank manager and an engineer, respectively. At the age of 3 months, Lloyd contracted whooping cough, resulting in damage to her lungs. This led to her developing asthma.

Tyra was born in Los Angeles on December 4th, 1973, to a very loving and supportive family. Despite the divorce of her parents when she was only six years old, and the torments of her older brother Devin, Tyra's youth was happy and trouble-free.

Supermodel Elle Macpherson is returning to acting with a recurring role on CW's drama pilot "Beautiful Life." The project revolves around a group of male and female models living together in New York.

Macpherson will play Claudia, the owner of Focus Models, the top fashion modeling agency in New York. She is a '80s supermodel who is still in great shape and runs her business with the efficiency and toughness of a dictator.

She joins Mischa Barton, Ben Hollingsworth, Sara Paxton, Ashley Madekwe and Nico Tortorella in the pilot.

The Met Explores the Mythology of Fashion Models

On Wednesday morning, fashion models designer Marc Jacobs attended a press conference at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to discuss fashion models, muses, and an upcoming exhibition that will celebrate them.

Mr. Jacobs, who is co-sponsoring the “Female Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” exhibition with Condé Nast spurred a “paradigm shift” in Americans’ ideal of beauty when in 1992, he hired a young girl named Kate Moss to walk in his infamous “grunge collection,” recalled the Met’s Costume Institute’s curator Harold Koda. The anti-fashion collection of cashmere thermals and baggy plaid shirts wound up getting him fired from his job as creative director of Perry Ellis.

In his introductory remarks, Mr. Koda said he asked co-chair Anna Wintour for advice on the exhibit. She told him: “Don’t be too literal.” Mr. Jacobs also had one piece of advice: make it fun. The result will be a “cinematic” exploration of changing ideals of beauty—with soundtracks, footage, lighting and imagery—created by John Myhre, the Hollywood production designer behind “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Dreamgirls.” The exhibit will open to the public on May 6.

Mr. Jacobs modestly said he’s not so sure he agrees with Mr. Koda’s assessment that his choice of Ms. Moss was a “defining moment,” although he admitted “she brought those clothes to life.” Seventeen years after Mr. Jacobs worked with Ms. Moss, her image has been used to sell everything from digital cameras to handbags and jewelry, and she has been a muse to dozens of designers.

Quoting Yves Saint Laurent, Mr. Jacobs said that “a good model can advance fashion 10 years.”

Project Red Dress features up-and-coming local fashion designers in a 'Project Runway'-inspired event

Right about now, as we anticipate Valentine's Day, the country is aglow with shades of red: crimson hearts, scarlet roses -- and the ruby hues of the second annual Project Red Dress, which takes place on Feb. 13 from 6:30 to 10 p.m., at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

Project Red Dress was created by Monir Zandghoreishi, regional director of the Seattle branch of Fashion Group International (FGI), an organization founded in 1928 by Edna Woolman Chase (then editor-in-chief of Vogue), Elizabeth Arden and Eleanor Roosevelt, among others, to advance and support the business of fashion and design.

Zandghoreishi envisioned Project Red Dress as a way to showcase the talents of local fashion design students while bringing attention to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women awareness initiative. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go directly to the American Heart Association.

The five local schools with fashion design programs (International Academy of Design and Technology, Seattle Art Institute, New York Fashion Academy, Seattle Pacific University and Seattle Central Community College) each chose two students to participate in the Project Runway-inspired competition.

Each student was given $200 worth of fabric and 16 hours to create a red cocktail dress or evening gown. The dress, including trim, must be completely red -- which shade is up to the designer. The contestants will be judged on construction, fit, creativity, design, the overall representation of work and skill, planning, and their use of the color red.

This year's judges are former Project Runway contestant Nick Verreos; Seattle Metropolitan style editor Laura Cassidy; Cutter and Buck senior designer Marilyn Roberts; FGI and PONCHO board member Rose Dennis; and cosmetic industry professional Aysel Sanderson.

The first-place winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship, the second-place winner will get a new sewing machine from Sewing Machine Service Company and the third-place winner will receive sewing machine software. The winning dresses will be on display in the windows of the downtown Macy's store immediately after the event.

New this year is a competition for beauty-school students who will compete for a scholarship by demonstrating their hair and makeup skills on the fashion models.

Tall, slim and with flowing locks, Lara Masters modeled in her teens. But the work dried up as she developed a degenerative nerve condition. So is the fashion world ready for its first big disabled model?

The fashion industry has a very precise, exacting and unwavering view of beauty: a model must be tall, extremely slim and physically "flawless". It's a code of understanding which has ruled me out of modeling even though I am 5ft 9ins, size 6 and, if you'll excuse my immodesty, beautiful.

I have a degenerative nerve condition that has been gradually paralysing my limbs for many years, and now use an electric wheelchair. As a writer, model (I use the term very loosely as will be explained) actor and TV models presenter, I'm more visible than most disabled people. But I have never been accepted in any of these jobs for my skill alone - there is always a focus on my disability.

My mum, Debbie Moore, (founder of Pineapple dance studios) was a very successful model in the 60s and 70s. In my early teens, before my disability set in, I followed in her footsteps - modeling for girls' magazines and Mum's company. But from the age of 14, because I had some paralysis down my left side and an awkward gait, I could not get an agent and that was the end of my hopes for a modeling career.

I even tried joining an casting agencies called Ugly which claimed to be looking for something "different". By the time my potential employers had scraped their jaws off the floor I felt that even for an agency that was thinking outside of the box, disability was more disturbing than different. Considering the agency name, I didn't know whether to be flattered or outraged when they refused take to me on.

Role models were in short supply, until Paralympic runner Aimee Mullins briefly took to the catwalk for designer Alexander McQueen in 1998 - sporting hand-carved wooden prosthetic limb. But when McQueen said he wasn't out to shock people but "to show that beauty comes from within", I was appalled and confused. It was patronising the stunningly gorgeous Mullins and seemed to be saying that having a disability makes you a beautiful person.

‘Next Year’s Model’ discovered in Columbus

University of Wisconsin-Madison junior Rianna Hardesty of Columbus learned she won the national "Next Year's Model" contest as she walked to her Introduction to Buddhism class, providing an unusual clash of information: Earning a much-sought pop-culture prize, then studying a religion developed in the 6th century.

"I was so excited," says Hardesty, 20, "but I was trying to pay attention, too."

The contest stems from veteran supermodel Carol Alt and other industry execs, who chose four contestants from thousands of entrants. Hardesty, a Columbus native, didn't enter herself - her mother, Kristen, did. Then Kristen didn't tell Rianna about it until she was picked as a finalist.

On Thursday, Hardesty heard about her win, chosen by online voters. She receives a trip for two in February to New York City, where she will participate in a photo shoot with her picture likely landing on the cover of Alt's book "Model, Inc." While in New York, she will meet with a top modeling agency and receive a $500 wardrobe package.

Hardesty, who studies communication arts, is an intern at International Learning Community in UW-Madison's Adams Hall, a dorm with sections concentrating on different languages.

She has never done professional modeling photography, but she was interested in pursuing it. "I didn't think I'd get anywhere with it," said Hardesty, a 2006 graduate of Columbus High School. "I have a friend really into photography and she would use me as her model. But that's it."

Hardesty's mother will join her daughter in New York. They'll meet Alt, and Rianna will receive the chance to break into a highly competitive industry.

"It's an amazing opportunity," she says. "Whatever comes of it, either way, I'll enjoy it."

Twenty-five successful years aside, the lawsuit attempts to recover $235,294 in lost wages from StarCaps. Nesbit's complaint wasn't that the product didn't work, he alleges that the manufacturer failed to disclose that the product contains Bumetanide. That is what got him a four-game suspension from the National Football League.

Does he really have a case? The product is a quarter century old, should the players be responsible to research what goes into their own bodies. It looks like a court will decide.

General Requirements for Commercial Modeling:

Contrary to popular belief, many successful commercial and internet model look like normal, everyday people. If they walked past you on the street in normal everyday clothes and with little or no makeup, you would probably not look at them twice. However, what they do possess is the ability to express an emotion, and the ability to replicate that same look time and again. For starters, you can start practicing your best looks and poses in front of a mirror. Many successful models do 15 minutes of mirror-work every day. Practice evoking different types of emotions through your expressions.

The ability to show different expressions, to be able to hold that expression so that the modeling photographers can take multiple shots at different camera exposure settings, and the ability to create that expression again at will are all very useful qualities.
